Spotlight and the ability to process AppleScript/UNIX commands?

Here’s an interesting idea proposed by my buddy, J. Scott Anderson: wouldn’t it be terrific if Spotlight could understand and hand off Applescript and UNIX commands? For example:

In the Spotlight field: Tell Chrome to open current Safari page

Obviously, Chrome would open the current page you are on in Safari.

Sure, this is a power user feature, but one that could be very useful. What’s more, it would be a great extension of the Siri voice technology. In fact, by using Siri, it would process natural language commands for manipulating files and issuing power-user commands.

Of course, we have to have Siri on the desktop first. Apple, what are you waiting for?

flattr this!
