Rokform’s US$99 RokBed Fuzion+ case for the iPhone 4/4S is a durable case with a couple of clever twists.
It offers the same durability as the original RokBed Fuzion. However, the Fuzion+ has an optional magnetic mount accessory ($10) that lets you attach it to almost any metal surface for a hands-free experience. What’s more, the Fuzion+ has a built-in anti-slip grip that helps prevent it from slipping out of your hands.
It’s also one tough case. Machined from a single billet of 6061 T-6, aircraft grade aluminum, the Fuzion+ case offers six-sided protection. Features include a shock-absorbing rubber outer bumper and high impact polycarbonate frame. The Fuzion+ has survived drop tests equivalent to military standards, as well as being run over by a car, according to the folks at Rokform. However, admittedly we didn’t try this with our Apple smartphones. Despite its encompassing protection, we experienced no issues with reception loss.
For all its protective features, the Fuzion+ doesn’t come with a screen protector. You’ll have to purchase one separately. Also note that you can have a screen protector on the front of your iPhone when inserting it into the Rokform case. However, the fit is so snug — almost too snug — that you can’t have on the back of the Apple device.
You can also buy a $9 Rokform lanyard for use with the Fuzion+. This is very useful when taking photos or videos with your iPhone. However, it makes it difficult to place the Rokform-equipped iPhone into any sort of carrying case.
Also, you may find it tricky to figure out how to insert your iPhone. A tip: remove the bottom section and slide your smartphone up into the Fuzion+.
