Have you seen the Corning Glass demo video dubbed “A Day Made of Glass?” If not, you should check it out (the link is at the bottom of this article).
The interface seen in the video is much like the touch interfaces we have today on Apple’s iOS products. If Apple made a home server (let’s call it the iHome), something I’ve long urged, the company could power glass interfaces such as those seen in the Corning video.
Let’s take it a step further. As small as the Mac mini is, Apple could conceivably have a division that rolls those into automobile appliances — and a host of other places and applications that could tie in to the “Glass-like” scenario.Basically, Apple would be making the Corning “A Day Made of Glass” a reality. I believe Apple could implement many of the scenarios shown in the video today — and application developers would go nuts with the possibilities.
You can watch “A Day Made of Glass 2: Unpacked. The Story Behind Corning’s Vision” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-GXO_urMow . I realize that AppleĀ must pick its projects carefully, but when it comes to a day, or future, made of glass, why let Corning have all the fun?
