An iWeb replacement may be introduced at this year’s Macworld/iWorld expo, which starts Jan. 31 in San Franciso. But not by Apple.
A company located in Thornhill, Ontario, will be exhibiting new software that the company claims is a “replacement for iWeb. It’s called EasyWeb; you can sign up to receive more info at http://www.iwebreplacementapp.com .
iWeb was Apple’s simply website creation tool that debuted in 2006 as part of iLife ’06. Apple quit developing it in 2011 without offering a reason why.
The three best iWeb replacements I know of are Freeway Express, Sandvox and Rapidweaver. But iWeb fans are always happy to check out a new app that promises an even more iWebby experience.

The problem with all the current replacements is that you CANNOT customize to the level as with iWeb. I know it was relatively light-weight, but the degree to which it might be personalized (as with my nature and science website (www.njnaturenotes.com) was unprecedented. I have taken a long look at the current offerings and they are absolutely find it you intend to stay ‘inside the box’. There WERE features missing from iWeb that I sincerely hope that EasyWeb includes. My website is far too complex to be made over easily, and I don’t want the restrictions imposed by what’s out there now. I hope EasyWeb has looked at my website to see what could be done with iWeb.
Still can’t fathom why Apple would start a good web effort and abandon it…twice. There was a rumor (way out there) that Apple was building an iWeb replacement that would be professional grade. Does anyone know of this?
I saw a demo of this at Macworld and was pretty impressed. However if you’re looking at iWeb alternatives check out Goldfish by Fishbeam software. You can easily customize templates and re-use the pieces you want which was always an issue with iWeb
I type too quickly. Wish I could correct the typos!
Who cares about iWeb, I want a iWork update
EasyWeb is the term for TD Canada Trust’s online banking website. Wonder if they will be happy with this Canadian company using the same name??
I tried I-Web and immediately found that many of the features worked only with Safari. Hardly acceptable in today’s multiplatform world.
